Two large residential projects as part of a massive regenerating process in this area near Finsbury Park in London’s Hackney.

This large development over two different sites was completed in 2012 (KS2) & 2013 (KS5). Building plot KS2 had some very interesting features with it's feature panels on the balconies of the flats. Detailing is something we like on top of providing quality aluminium systems.

The feature panel his a window with a glazed incomposite panel behind, the panels are a 3mm pressed metal with a leaf and woodland design in which lifted the building. These were produced by our supply chain partner company Simco, a local company to Elite Aluminium.

Part of the specification was a Lifetime Home specification Elite had to make sure that the window handles were no more than 1.2 metres from the finished floor level because of disabled access for opening the windows. We had to develop and configure a new window opening gearing to provide multi point locking and move the handle from the side of the window to the bottom of the window. We worked closely with the hardware company VBH who used a Root product and produced a new open in window configuration so it proved very successful.

Key challenges

Create pressed steal decoration and function panels for the exterior window and balconies

Develop a new operating system to meet guidelines for opening windows

Systems

SPW 600 Windows

SD Doors
